Major Start Menu Comeback in Upcoming Windows 8.1 Update
Windows recently announced Tuesday that there will be an upcoming update to Windows 8.1, and by the looks of things, this will be pretty big changes.
The update features the return of the start menu – yes, the bar that left millions in a frantic disorientation once it was removed – will be making its comeback after Microsoft has finally come to terms with the mistake three years later.
Half of the start menu looks familiar to the one featured in Windows 7, though an interesting merge has been made with apps, allowing live tiles to be displayed in the menu bar.
Apps will also be able to be run through window screens on your desktop, not a full page takeover as seen now. With this update, Microsoft will manage to break down the brick walls that isolated the desktop with each app that contributed to such a discomforting and inefficient user experience.
The Windows 8.1 update will be available for download on April 8 through Windows Update.
